celexon CAT 6A Patch Cable - S/FTP 5.0m, white

The celexon CAT 6A Patch Cable - S/FTP transmits network signals at speeds of up to 10 Gigabits per second at an operating frequency of up to 500 MHz. This enables not only use in the classic TCP/IP domain, but also the use of IP streaming and HDBaseT infrastructures.

The common standards for home network infrastructure are CAT 5 and 6. In the professional sector, standards 7 and 8 also find application.

For the CAT 6A specification, the contact geometry in the RJ45 connectors has been optimised. This achieves the maximum transmission rate and speed. The transmission speeds of standards 7 and 8 cannot be achieved with an RJ45 connector.

CAT 5: CAT 5 patch cables are still very commonly found in private applications. In professional environments, they are increasingly being replaced by higher standards. With a frequency of up to 100 MHz, data rates of 1 Gbps are transmitted. Particularly in domestic environments, these transmission parameters are usually entirely sufficient for connecting routers, computers and other devices.

CAT 6: With CAT 6(A) patch cables, data rates of up to 10 Gbps are transmitted at a frequency of up to 500 MHz. This standard is now used in all sectors and is currently the most widespread standard in this area. For new installations, it is recommended to adopt this standard directly, as the cables are better protected against external influences compared to CAT 5 cables.

CAT 7: Patch cables with the CAT 7 standard can only transmit data rates of up to 10 Gbps at a frequency of up to 1,000 MHz using a GG45 connector. The classic RJ45 connector cannot fully exploit this bandwidth. Since the peripherals are rarely available and comparatively very expensive, the field of application is very limited and found almost exclusively in professional installation environments.

CAT 8: Cables with the CAT 8 standard are used exclusively in professional environments such as data centres. Transmission speeds of up to 100 Gbps at 2,000 MHz are achieved - but only over distances shorter than 30 m. For many "normal" applications, the cost-benefit ratio is not balanced here.

The S/FTP (Screened Foiled Twisted Pair) specification describes the shielding structure of these patch cables. The wire pairs are each shielded with a foil. In addition, all 4 wire pairs together are shielded once more with a wire braid - this corresponds to the standard according to ISO / IEC 11801 Ed 2.2. The cables are therefore optimally protected against disruptive external electromagnetic fields.

The LSZH (Low Smoke Zero Halogen) cable jacket of the celexon CAT 6A Patch Cable consists of thermoplastic or thermosetting moulding compounds and is free of halogens. Unlike PVC cables, LSZH cables produce barely any toxic fumes in the event of a fire, making them particularly suitable for use indoors. In public areas where network infrastructures must be routed near places with high footfall or in open installations, the use of LSZH cables is mandated by the EU. The toxic fumes from burning PVC pose a danger to human health.
