How do you fix accessories to a truss?

Truss accessories are fixed to a truss depending on their function. Truss segments are joined with conical connectors that slot into the tube ends and are locked with bolt and split pin, or on request with bolt and nut. Loads such as lighting fixtures, banners or speakers are attached to the round chords using couplers, clamps, hooks or double clamps. Adapters extend the options for eye bolts or crank stands. Every accessory is series- and diameter-specific, and each product page states which truss it fits, so always match the part to your system and stay within the stated working load limit.

Which truss adapter do I need for my system?

The truss adapter you need depends on your truss series, tube diameter and the load you want to mount. Naxpro-Truss systems differ clearly: FD21-24 has a 35 mm tube, FD31-44 and HD31-44 have 50 mm tubes, and GS94 has a 60 mm tube. An adapter or clamp built for 35 mm will not fit a 50 mm chord. First identify your series and diameter, then choose an adapter rated for your intended load — for example an eye-bolt adapter or a crank-stand receiver. When mixing brands, verify diameter and manufacturer specification before ordering, or stay within one system for guaranteed compatibility.

What is a truss rolling board and what is it used for?

A truss rolling board (Traversen Rollbrett) is a wheeled dolly designed to transport stacked truss segments safely and without manual lifting. It is used during load-in and load-out to move heavy aluminium truss through venues, up ramps and into vehicles while keeping the stack stable. A rolling board protects both the crew's backs and the truss profiles from damage, and it speeds up handling significantly. For anyone regularly transporting truss between events, a rolling board is a practical transport accessory that reduces effort and lowers the risk of injury or profile deformation during movement and storage.

How is truss mounted to the ceiling?

Truss is mounted to the ceiling using rated hanging points, shackles and steel wire ropes connected to a suitable, load-bearing anchor. The truss is typically lifted with chain hoists (lifting motors) attached at defined hanging points, and every fixture must additionally be secured with a safety cable as secondary suspension. Overhead suspension is safety-critical and must comply with rules such as DGUV Vorschrift 17 (formerly BGV C1). Always confirm the load capacity of the ceiling anchor, use only rated rigging hardware, respect the lowest working load limit in the chain and have the installation checked by qualified personnel.

What is included in a light truss set?

A light truss set typically includes the truss profiles plus the core accessories needed to build and hang a lighting rig. This usually means conical connectors with bolt and split pin to join the segments, base plates or supports for stability, and mounting parts such as clamps or couplers to attach fixtures. Depending on the set, hanging points, adapters or a T-bar for stands may also be included. Because compositions vary between manufacturers and series, always check the product description to see exactly which connectors, clamps and mounting parts are supplied, and add any missing accessories to complete your rig.

Which accessories are needed to connect truss elements?

To connect truss elements you primarily need connectors that match your truss series. The standard choice is the conical connector, driven into both tube ends and secured with bolt and split pin; alternatives include half cones, conical pins and complete connector sets, or bolt-and-nut fixings for permanent joints. Beyond the connection itself, couplers, half clamps and double clamps let you mount loads onto the chords. Since FD21-24, FD31-44, HD31-44 and GS94 differ in tube diameter and wall thickness, every connecting accessory is series-specific — always match the correct diameter and check the stated working load limit before assembly.

What is the difference between a conical connector and a bolt-and-nut fixing?

The difference between a conical connector and a bolt-and-nut fixing lies in assembly speed and joint character. A conical connector is a push-fit part locked with bolt and split pin — it is fast to assemble and dismantle, making it the professional standard for touring, stages and trade fairs where quick build-up and tear-down matter. A bolt-and-nut fixing, by contrast, is fully tightened with a wrench, producing a rigid, tamper-resistant and more permanent joint suited to semi-permanent or fixed installations. Both are load-rated when used correctly; choose the conical connector for flexibility and the bolt-and-nut fixing for a lasting, secure connection.
