Litec offers one of the most complete truss ranges in the industry. Litec truss is engineered as a coordinated system, and true structural compatibility with other manufacturers is never guaranteed automatically. Tube diameters, wall thicknesses and connection types – whether conical spigots, bolted plates or fork-ends – differ between brands, so mixing components can compromise load ratings and safety. As a rule, connect Litec sections only with Litec connectors and hardware, or use certified adapters where they exist. If you need to combine truss brands, consult a qualified rigger and check the documented WLL for the weakest element. What is the use of Litec truss systems?

Litec truss systems are used throughout event technology to suspend lighting, audio, LED walls, decor and set elements safely above stages and audiences. How does a Litec truss carry load safely?

The tube diameter and wall thickness define the load capacity, while the Working Load Limit (WLL) states the maximum weight the truss may carry over a given span. Safe loading depends on respecting the manufacturer's load chart, because WLL decreases as the span increases. What is the difference between fork-end and conical Litec trusses?

The difference between fork-end and conical Litec trusses lies in the connection method and intended use. Conical (S-series) trusses use tapered spigots and conical connectors for fast, tool-light assembly, making them ideal for touring and frequent build-ups. Fork-end trusses use fork-and-pin connections developed for high-load aluminium structures with extended spans, which makes them the better choice for large roof systems and wide free-spanning grids. In short, choose conical trusses for speed and repeatability, and fork-end trusses when maximum load capacity and long spans are the priority.

What safety standards apply to Litec trussing?

Litec trussing is governed by several safety and manufacturing standards essential for professional events. DGUV Vorschrift 17 (formerly BGV C1) is the German accident-prevention regulation for stages and production sites. EN 1090 covers the execution and welding quality of aluminium and steel load-bearing structures. Independent TÜV SÜD inspection and structural calculations (statics) confirm a system is fit for its intended load. For a concert stage, heavier square four-chord trusses (50 mm / 3 mm or high-load 60 mm / 5 mm fork-end) are the right choice, since they support lighting grids, PA wings, LED wall portals and roofs with high load capacity.
