What is the difference between 3-point and 4-point trusses?

3-point trusses feature three main tubes arranged in a triangular cross-section, typically with 290 mm sides and 50⌀ mm tubes. They offer a good balance of strength and weight, making them ideal for lightweight applications such as DJ lighting stands, small stage backdrops and trade show booth frames. 4-point trusses have four main tubes in a square configuration (290×290 mm or 340×340 mm), providing significantly higher load capacity and torsional rigidity. The additional tube increases the Working Load Limit by 40–60% compared to equivalent 3-point systems, making 4-point trusses the standard choice for concert lighting grids, heavy speaker arrays and large-scale rigging where safety margins are critical. Both configurations use the same conical connector systems and are available in our sale range with identical certification and warranty coverage.

How do I connect truss sections together?

Professional aluminium trusses connect using conical connectors (spigots or half-cones) – tapered steel pins that insert into the tube ends of adjacent sections. To assemble, insert the half-cone connectors into one truss end (they're usually pre-installed on corners and accessories). Align the second truss section and slide its tubes over the protruding connectors until the sections meet. Insert a truss pin (bolt) through the aligned holes in both the tube and connector, then secure with an R-clip (split pin) to prevent accidental disconnection. Always install pins in all connection points before loading the structure. Most systems use M12 connectors (12 mm diameter pins) which are cross-compatible between brands like Naxpro-Truss, Global Truss and Eurotruss, provided tube diameters match. Sale trusses include connector sets unless otherwise specified in the product listing.

What accessories do I need for truss systems?

Essential truss accessories include conical connectors (half-cones, typically M12 size), truss pins (bolts) and R-clips (safety split pins) for joining straight sections – most sale trusses include these in the package. For multi-directional structures you'll need boxcorners or multi-way junctions (2-way, 3-way, 4-way configurations) to create corners, T-intersections and crosses. Base plates provide stable floor mounting for freestanding towers and ground-support systems. Rigging hardware such as half-couplers (clamps), shackles and slings attach lighting fixtures, speakers and other equipment to the truss. For overhead rigging, you'll need chain hoists or wire rope hoists rated to the system's Working Load Limit, plus rigging points certified to building structure. Optional accessories include truss dollies (rolling carts with stacking blocks) for transport and storage, spansets (round slings) for soft rigging connections and corner braces for additional structural reinforcement in large spans.

Can I extend truss systems flexibly?

Yes, professional truss systems are designed for modular expansion. You can add straight sections, corners, circle segments and accessories at any time, provided they match the original system's series and connector type. For example, if you start with Naxpro-Truss FD34 sections, you can later add FD34 corners, FD34 circle segments and compatible accessories from the same series. Cross-brand compatibility exists within conical connector standards – M12 systems from Naxpro-Truss, Global Truss F-series and Eurotruss FD-series can often be mixed if tube diameters match (typically 50⌀ mm). However, always verify compatibility before purchasing, especially when mixing manufacturers or integrating sale items into existing rigs. Our technical team can confirm compatibility and recommend expansion options. The modular nature of truss systems means your initial investment grows with your business – start with a basic ground-support rig and expand to complex multi-level structures as projects demand.

What does a professional truss system cost?

Professional aluminium truss pricing varies by configuration, length and manufacturer. In our sale range, 3-point truss straight sections (FD24, FD32 series) typically start from €49–€95 for 0.25 m lengths and range to €250–€400 for 3–4 m sections, representing savings of 20–40% compared to new inventory. 4-point trusses (FD34, HD34 series) start from €95–€150 for short sections and reach €350–€600 for 3–4 m lengths. Corners and multi-way junctions range from €95 for simple 2-way corners to €300–€400 for 4-way boxcorners with connectors included. Circle segments (22.5°–45° arcs) cost €180–€450 depending on radius and series. Complete starter packages – for example, a 3×3 m ground-support frame with base plates and connectors – typically range from €800–€1,500 in our sale inventory. These prices include VAT, and orders over €69 ship free within Germany. B-stock and demo equipment offer the best value, delivering TÜV-certified, professional-grade systems at budget-friendly prices without compromising safety or performance.

Which truss system suits my application best?

Truss system selection depends on load requirements, span distances and application type. For mobile DJ rigs, small band setups and lightweight displays (loads under 100 kg), 3-point trusses like FD24 or FD32 (290 mm triangle, 50⌀ mm tubes, 2 mm wall) provide sufficient capacity while remaining lightweight and portable. For concert lighting grids, speaker arrays and medium-scale events (loads 150–350 kg), 4-point FD34 systems (290×290 mm square, 50⌀ mm tubes, 2 mm wall) offer the ideal balance of strength and weight. For heavy-duty touring rigs, large-format LED walls and permanent installations (loads over 400 kg), choose HD-series trusses (340×340 mm square, 50⌀ mm tubes, 3 mm wall) or consult our team for engineered solutions. Trade show booths and exhibition stands benefit from 3-point systems for their clean triangular profile and lighter weight, making transport and setup easier. Always consult manufacturer load tables for your specific span and support configuration, and apply appropriate safety factors (typically 5:1 under DGUV Vorschrift 17). Our technical team provides free load calculations and system recommendations to ensure your sale truss purchase meets project requirements safely and cost-effectively.

Are B-stock trusses safe for professional use?

Yes, B-stock trusses are completely safe for professional rigging applications when sourced from reputable suppliers like LTT. B-stock classification refers to cosmetic imperfections – minor scratches, small surface marks or packaging wear – not structural defects. Every B-stock truss in our inventory undergoes rigorous inspection to verify weld integrity, tube straightness and connector fit. All items retain their original TÜV SÜD certification and EN 1090 compliance, confirming they meet the same structural standards as new trusses. The Working Load Limit (WLL) remains unchanged, and the same safety factors apply. We back this confidence with our standard 3-year warranty on all B-stock items, identical to the coverage on new inventory. Professional event companies, rental houses and touring productions regularly use B-stock and demo equipment to expand their rigging inventory cost-effectively. The key is purchasing from suppliers who maintain transparent grading standards and provide full certification documentation – which LTT guarantees on every sale truss we offer.

How do I calculate the load capacity I need?

Truss load capacity calculation requires three key inputs: the total suspended load (lighting fixtures, speakers, rigging hardware, plus safety margin), the span distance (unsupported length between support points) and the support configuration (point loads vs. distributed loads). Start by adding the weight of all equipment you'll hang, including clamps, cables and safety chains – this is your working load. Multiply by the required safety factor (typically 5:1 for entertainment rigging under DGUV Vorschrift 17, meaning the truss must support five times your working load). Consult the manufacturer's load tables for your specific truss series, span and support type. For example, a Naxpro-Truss FD34 section spanning 3 m between two support points might have a safe working load of 250 kg (distributed), but only 180 kg if the load is concentrated at mid-span. Longer spans and point loads significantly reduce capacity. Our technical team provides free load calculations and can recommend appropriate truss series, support spacing and rigging configurations for your project. Never exceed published load limits, and always engage a qualified rigger for overhead installations or complex structures.
