What are streamer confetti cannons and how do they work?

Streamer confetti cannons are launcher devices that propel long paper ribbons—typically 10 metres by 5 centimetres—into the air using compressed air or CO2 cartridges. When activated, the cannon releases pressurized gas that forces the tightly rolled streamers through a barrel, causing them to unroll mid-flight and create elegant spirals and dynamic lines. Electric models feature DMX control for synchronized firing, while handheld units use single-use CO2 cartridges for portable operation. The streamers descend slowly, creating visual depth and movement ideal for concerts, festivals and theatrical productions.

What's the difference between confetti string paper and regular confetti?

Confetti string paper, commonly called streamers, consists of long continuous strips (typically 10 metres by 1.5 to 5 centimetres) that unroll in flight, forming spirals and lines in the air. Regular confetti comprises small individual pieces—squares, rectangles or shapes measuring 17 × 17 millimetres to 55 × 17 millimetres—that fall vertically in a slow shower. Streamers create horizontal movement and spatial trajectories, while regular confetti generates volume and density. Professional event technicians often combine both types to achieve layered visual effects that emphasize both depth and colour saturation.

Are hand throw streamers suitable for indoor events?

Hand throw streamers are suitable for indoor events provided they use fireproof, flame-retardant materials that meet EN 13501-1 safety standards. These streamers are designed for manual tossing, creating localized bursts of colour without requiring launcher equipment. They work well in intimate settings such as weddings, birthday parties and small corporate gatherings where controlled, low-volume effects are appropriate. However, for larger indoor venues or synchronized multi-point effects, electric cannons with DMX control offer better precision and coverage. Always verify venue regulations regarding confetti and streamer use before deployment.

What are pop out streamers with no mess feature?

Pop out streamers with no mess features are pre-packaged handheld cannons designed for easy cleanup after use. These units contain biodegradable paper streamers that break down naturally, and the compact design concentrates the effect in a defined area, minimizing scatter. After activation, the streamers can be quickly gathered and disposed of, with biodegradable materials composting within 60 to 90 days. This feature makes them ideal for indoor venues, private homes and events where cleanup time is limited. Professional-grade versions maintain fireproof certification while offering environmentally responsible disposal options.

How loud are confetti cannons?

Confetti cannon noise levels vary by propulsion method and cannon size. CO2-powered handheld cannons typically produce 85 to 95 decibels during discharge, comparable to a hand clap or door slam, making them suitable for ceremonies and indoor events. Electric cannons using compressed air or fan propulsion generate 75 to 85 decibels, quieter than CO2 systems and appropriate for theatre productions where sound control matters. Large-scale festival cannons with high-pressure air tanks can reach 100 to 110 decibels, similar to a car horn. Always consider venue acoustics and audience proximity when selecting cannon types.

Which confetti material is best for outdoor festivals?

Biodegradable paper confetti is the best choice for outdoor festivals, as it breaks down naturally within 60 to 90 days without harming ecosystems. TÜV-certified biodegradable materials meet environmental standards and comply with park and public space regulations that prohibit non-degradable waste. Metallic confetti, while visually striking under stage lights, does not biodegrade and requires manual cleanup, making it less suitable for large outdoor venues. Paper confetti also offers superior slow-fall properties, maximizing airtime and visual impact. For festival productions, choose biodegradable options in vibrant colours to achieve spectacular effects while maintaining environmental responsibility.

What does a professional electric confetti cannon cost?

Professional electric confetti cannons range from €150 to €600 depending on size, DMX capability and output power. A 50-centimetre cannon with basic on/off control typically costs €150 to €250, suitable for club stages and mid-sized events. An 80-centimetre model with full DMX-512 protocol, adjustable burst duration and wireless remote capability ranges from €350 to €600, ideal for concert halls and theatre productions. Multi-output systems with four to six cannons and integrated show control reach €1,500 to €3,000, designed for festival stages and large-scale productions. At LTT, you'll find high-quality options across all price brackets, backed by expert guidance and technical support.

How do I integrate confetti effects with DMX lighting systems?

To integrate confetti effects with DMX lighting systems, assign each electric cannon a unique DMX address within your lighting console's universe. Most professional cannons use 1 to 3 DMX channels: channel 1 for trigger activation, channel 2 for burst duration (0 to 255 equals 0.5 to 3 seconds), and channel 3 for intensity control. Program cue stacks that synchronize confetti bursts with lighting blackouts, colour changes or musical crescendos. Use visualization software such as Chamsys MagicQ or Madrix to preview timing before the live event. Wireless DMX receivers eliminate cable runs, simplifying rigging in complex stage environments. Always test firing sequences during technical rehearsals to ensure precise synchronization and optimal visual impact.
