Halogen lamps socket G9
The type G9 lamp socket is particularly easy to recognise from the fact that it has no classical pins, but two U-shaped bent wire loops. The letter G in the name of the halogen lamp socket stands for glass. The number 9 indicates the pin spacing in millimetres (9.0 mm). The standardised spacing is measured at the lowest point of the U; there in the middle, the distance is exactly 9 mm.
Lamp socket G9 - for halogen and LED lamp models
G9 sockets are often found in designer lamps or other decorative applications. Lamp socket G9 is originally intended for high-voltage halogen-based illuminants. However, halogen illuminants consume more electricity than necessary. Lamps with the G9 socket have small dimensions and resemble a pin-base lamp. But this small size makes the illuminants suitable for all types of lamps as they fit into all lampshades without any part of the illuminant being visible. The light is brilliant and therefore indispensable in a living room set-up. We have socket G9 lamps of different wattages and they can be easily replaced. Those using halogen lamps with the G9 socket can replace them with appropriate LEDs. The models are available in different colours, such as a clear and neutral white or a pleasant warm white light colour.
Due to their excellent properties, LEDs of this type are an equivalent substitute for conventional halogen lamps. The consumption in watts is significantly lower, but the luminosity in lumen is equal to that of halogen lamps. They can be replaced one-to-one and are often of higher quality than halogen lamps. LED G9 starting from 400 lumen are bright enough to illuminate rooms. Our online range also offers a variety of socket G9 lamps - find out now!
