Which accessories are compatible with EUTRAC 3-phase tracks?

EUTRAC 3-phase tracks work with a full range of matched accessories: left and right feed-in units, longitudinal connectors, 90° corner connectors, T-connectors, cross connectors, flexible connectors, isolated connectors, end caps and luminaire adapters. EUTRAC is a widely used reference profile, so many third-party adapters and spotlights also fit its geometry. What is the difference between a 3-phase track system and a single-phase system?

A 3-phase track system carries three separate live conductors (L1, L2, L3) plus neutral and protective earth, giving you three independently switchable and dimmable lighting circuits on one rail. A single-phase system carries only one live circuit, so every luminaire on the track is switched together. For professional event, stage and exhibition lighting, the 3-phase track is the standard because you can group spotlights across three phases and control zones separately. The accessories differ too: 3-phase feed-ins, connectors and adapters are not cross-compatible with single-phase track parts, so you must always match components to the correct system family.

Which spotlights fit a 3-phase track?

Spotlights fit a 3-phase track via a track luminaire adapter that clicks the fixture into one of the three phases. Dedicated 3-phase track spotlights come with the correct adapter built in, while separate adapters let you mount other fixtures. Many track spotlights use a GU10 lamp holder so you can choose the beam and colour temperature you need. When selecting spotlights, check that the adapter matches your specific track profile — for example EUTRAC or SLV S-TRACK — and confirm that the combined weight of all spotlights stays within the load capacity of the track. Is a Zumtobel 3-phase track compatible with other brands?

Zumtobel 3-phase tracks use their own profile geometry, so compatibility with other brands cannot be assumed. Electrical components such as feed-ins, connectors and end caps are engineered for a specific rail and should generally be used within the same system to ensure correct contact and safe operation. Some adapters may fit across brands, but this must always be verified before installation, because a poor mechanical fit can compromise the protective earth contact. What components are needed for a complete 3-phase track set?

A complete 3-phase track set needs several component groups. First, the track sections themselves. Second, a power feed-in unit (left or right) to bring mains power in, plus optional mid-run feed-ins. Third, connectors to shape the run — longitudinal for straight extensions, 90° corner connectors, T-connectors and cross connectors. Fourth, an end cap for every open track end. Fifth, luminaire or pendant adapters to carry the fixtures. Finally, suspension or mounting sets — or truss clamps for event rigging — to fix the track overhead. Which connector do I need to join two track sections at a right angle?

To join two track sections at a right angle you need a 90° corner connector. These connectors come in left and right versions, which define on which side the protective earth conductor sits, so you must choose the variant that matches the earth orientation of your run. They are available in black and white to suit your ceiling or stage. If your layout requires a curved rather than a hard corner, a flexible connector is the alternative. What does 3-phase track accessory hardware cost?

Prices for 3-phase track accessories vary by component type and brand. As a guide, small parts such as suspension sets and feed-in units typically start in the low double-digit euro range, corner connectors sit slightly higher, and cross connectors and pendant adapters cost more because of their complexity. Which 3-phase track accessories suit a stage or truss-mounted setup?

For a stage or truss-mounted setup, choose accessories built for flexibility and safe overhead rigging. Use isolated connectors to create independent power groups so front wash, backlight and effects sit on separate phases. Add plenty of luminaire adapters for your spotlights, and mount the track onto a load-rated truss such as Naxpro-Truss using Riggatec truss clamps rather than relying on the rail alone. Always calculate the total fixture weight against the working load limit, respect DGUV Vorschrift 17 for suspended equipment, and use a secondary safety.
