Who hasn't experienced it? Sometimes the speakers simply reach their limits. An expensive new acquisition can't always be done at the time or it isn't financially justified. Resourceful sound engineers then grab their tools and build a larger speaker system with a crossover. A piece of cake! This is how the crossover works

A crossover divides the audio signal to ensure that it can be heard on several speakers. Depending on the design, these speakers can be tweeters or woofers. Crossovers are available as analogue active crossovers or passive crossovers and now also as digital crossovers. Of course, this depends on which sound equipment you are using. Combinations of these three types of crossovers are also possible, if you are familiar with their use. In order not to overload the speakers too much, it's also possible of course to install appropriate protection modules.
